What happens during a permanent makeup procedure?
The initial consultation
Prior to the procedure you will receive a comprehensive consultation to discuss the results you wish to achieve. Your technician will first analyse your facial shape and features to determine the most complimentary look for your individual requirements. Using conventional cosmetics, your permanent makeup artist will create your unique look visually, ensuring the finished result is exactly what you want.
She will then discuss pigment colour, taking into account your skin tone, hair and eye colour and will mix a pigment to blend most naturally with your individual colouring.
The infusion process
The procedure places pharmaceutical grade pigments into the dermal layer of the skin, using state of the art micro-pigmentation equipment which meets British and European health and safety standards.
Immediately following the procedure, you will possibly experience some redness and swelling which normally lasts no longer than 24 hours. The enhancement will also appear a darker shade than the desired result for approximately 1 week.
Does it hurt?
Before the permanent makeup procedure begins, a topical anaesthetic agent will be applied to your skin to minimise any discomfort and further topical anaesthetics will be applied during the procedure to ensure your comfort at all times.
Will I need any follow up sessions?
Yes, the follow up session approximately four weeks later will allow your technician to check how the area has healed and to refine and adjust the enhancement as necessary. This session is included in the initial price.
Are the enhancements really "permanent"?
As the pigment heals into the skin and does not wash off, staying in the skin indefinitely, it is considered permanent. However many factors will cause the pigment to fade over time, such as exposure to the sun or tanning booths, use of some moisturisers and other skin treatments all may affect how long the pigment will last.
Sun protection will greatly improve the length of time the pigment will last, however to keep the area looking fresh, we recommend a maintenance procedure every 18 months, the price of which will be approximately half the initial cost.
Can you use pictures and photographs as a guide?
Yes,
If you have a specific idea in mind, it is a good idea to bring along pictures and photos.
